Director Nacho Vigalondo wanted to film using the latest technology. For this reason, he refused to use classic cameras and instead filmed with webcams.
The film was shot in real time to make the plot seem more realistic.
At one of the festivals where the film was shown, the director stated that he would allow viewers to slap him upon exiting the hall if they didn't like the film.
When Elijah Wood's character is shot through the windshield at the end of the film, a bullet hole remains in the glass. In the following scenes, it is no longer there.
The time on all the security cameras is stuck at either 20:59 or 22:38.
