Filming took place in Montreal and New York.
The film was released in Australia under the title "The Wrong Man".
While Jason Smilovich was writing the script in New York, Josh Hartnett was his neighbor. At the beginning of the film, Sleevin frequently wears a towel around his waist, which is because Smilovich often saw Hartnett like that. He also believed that this detail made Sleevin's image more vulnerable.
An X-ray of a hand can be seen in the coroner's office. The hand belongs to director Paul McGuigan.
In the scene where Lindsey returns to Slevin's apartment and sees him naked, Lucy Liu's reaction is genuine. Before filming this episode, Josh Hartnett did not warn the actress that everything would be 'real'.
