What's left behind the scenes

  • Javier Bardem tried to remain motionless even between takes on set.
  • The film's title comes from lines in a poem of the same name, written by the main character and included in his book "Letters from Hell" (Cartas desde el Infierno).
  • In the episode where Ramon and his nephew are watching football, the commentator names three players – Karpin, Michel Salgado, and Mauro Silva. It is clear that the Galician derby between "Deportivo" and "Celta" is on television. Moreover, all three were on the field together only once before Ramon's death – on October 25, 1997 (the 8th round of the 97/98 Spanish Championship), so talk of winning the championship ("only second place" in the original) was out of the question at that time. Although different surnames of former "Deportivo" players are mentioned in the Russian dub, they are not in the original version, and furthermore, all of them played for this team only in the 2000s.

Although the Russian dubbing mentions the names of other former Deportivo players, they are not present in the original version, and all of them played for the team only in the 2000s.
