Short description

Rose, a rebellious half-vampire/half-human guardian-in-training and her best friend, Lissa -- a mortal, royal vampire Princess - have been on the run when they are captured and returned to St. Vladamirs Academy, the very place where they believe their lives may be in most jeopardy. Rose will sacrifice everything to protect Lissa from those who intend to exploit her from within the Academy walls and the Strigoi (immortal, evil vampires) who hunt her kind from outside its sanctuary.

The film is based on the first book by Rachel Mead from the "Vampire Academy" series.
Sarah Hyland's audition for the role in this film was conducted via Skype.
Dominic Sherwood was the last actor approved for a role in the film. His candidacy was approved a few days before the start of filming.
The psi-dogs were originally filmed using trained animals, but director Mark Waters was unhappy with how they looked. As a result, they were replaced with models created using computer graphics.
During the filming of the movie, Lucy Fry wore green contact lenses.
