Short description
The prospects for continuing life on Earth in the year 2058 are grim. So the Robinsons are launched into space to colonize Alpha Prime, the only other inhabitable planet in the galaxy. But when a stowaway sabotages the mission, the Robinsons find themselves hurtling through uncharted space.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film was shot between March 4 and August 16, 1997. Filming took place in the United Kingdom.
- Originally, two full-length sequels to the television series were planned, but the idea for a second film never came to fruition.
- In the film, the spacecraft is named "Jupiter-2." The first ship in this series appeared in the early episodes of the self-titled series from 1965. Furthermore, the series' timeline was set to 1997 – the year filming of the full-length feature film began.
- In the original series, Coca-Cola was the sponsor of the Jupiter flight.
- The actors signed contracts for 3 films, but low box office receipts put an end to the sequels.
