What's left behind the scenes

  • The film was shot between March 4 and August 16, 1997. Filming took place in the United Kingdom.
  • Originally, two full-length sequels to the television series were planned, but the idea for a second film never came to fruition.
  • In the film, the spacecraft is named "Jupiter-2." The first ship in this series appeared in the early episodes of the self-titled series from 1965. Furthermore, the series' timeline was set to 1997 – the year filming of the full-length feature film began.
  • In the original series, Coca-Cola was the sponsor of the Jupiter flight.
  • The actors signed contracts for 3 films, but low box office receipts put an end to the sequels.
