Short description
When his SUV breaks down on a remote Southwestern road, Jeff Taylor lets his wife, Amy, hitch a ride with a trucker to get help. When she doesn't return, Jeff fixes his SUV and tracks down the trucker -- who tells the police he's never seen Amy. Johnathan Mostow's tense thriller then follows Jeff's desperate search for his wife, which eventually uncovers a small town's murderous secret.
What's left behind the scenes
- Kurt Russell was flown to and from the set by helicopter every day so he could spend the night with his family in Los Angeles.
- The map seen by the audience at the beginning of the film depicts the state of New Mexico. However, all the names have been changed, and none of the towns mentioned in the film actually exist in the United States.
- The idea for the film came to Mostoy during a trip to Las Vegas with his wife.
- Composer Basil Poledouris had to write the music for the film twice because the first version was rejected.
