Volver is a legendary Argentine tango, immortalized by Carlos Gardel. In the film, it was performed by Estrella Morente.
In Pedro Almodóvar's previous film, "Bad Education" (2004), there are two allusions to "Volver" (2006): firstly, a poster for Enrique Goded's "Grandmother Ghost," and secondly, the name of actress Carmen Maura appears in the lower left corner of another poster in the office of El Azar S.L.
"Volver" was the first joint film by Almodóvar and actress Carmen Maura after an 18-year break. In the 80s, almost no Almodóvar film went without the participation of this actress, but their relationship soured after "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" (1988).
