- While performing a somersault over a rickshaw, Jackie Chan suffered a deep cut to his left eye.
- During filming, a typhoon destroyed many of the sets. The film crew had to rebuild them in order to finish the film.
- According to Jackie Chan's autobiography, the film was shot in 9 months and cost $9 million to make, which was an unprecedented sum for Hong Kong films at the time. The film flopped at the box office, and Golden Harvest studio was dissatisfied with this. To somehow compensate for the low box office receipts, Chan filmed "Armour of God II: Operation Condor" (1991).
- The Hong Kong version of the film has a runtime of 127 minutes, the American version – 105 minutes, and the British version – 101 minutes.
- According to Jackie Chan's autobiography, the film was shot in 9 months and its creation cost 64 million Hong Kong dollars, which was an unprecedented sum for Hong Kong films of that time.
