- According to Don Coscarelli, several studios offered to produce a big-budget remake of 'Phantasm,' but at the request of the franchise's fans, it was decided to make the final part of the story with the original cast.
- This film was the first in the franchise not directed by Don Coscarelli. David Hartman filmed the movie under the close supervision of Coscarelli.
