- A film adaptation of the novel of the same name by John Green.
- Cara Delevingne was not the only actress considered for the role of Margot. Initially, the role was given to Shailene Woodley, but she left the project due to scheduling conflicts with the film "Divergent, Chapter 2: Insurgent" (2015). John Green said he would have liked to cast YouTuber Emma Blackery in the role, but casting was not up to him.
- John Green played a cameo role – his voice is that of Becky's father.
- The film was shot over five days in Huntersville, North Carolina, in the Skybrook area, in November 2014.
- In the book, Quentin does not attend the prom; moreover, he repeatedly states that he despises the event.
