The character Wolf-Lone Morales owes his name to a combination of the nickname of a real Texas Ranger captain and the surname of his on-screen portrayal in Charles B. Pierce's 1976 thriller.
Deputy Sheriff Tillman, played by Gary Cole, is named after Tillman Johnson, who actually served in the same position in Miller County.
John Donnell played the role of a patrolman nicknamed Sparkplug. This same character also appears in the 1976 film «The Town That Dreaded Sundown».
Travis Tope's character mentions that his mother is undergoing treatment at the «Trans-Allegheny» mental hospital. A clinic with that name existed in Weston, West Virginia, from 1864 to 1994.
