The film is based on Guy Endore's novel 'The Werewolf of Paris'.
The only werewolf film made by Hammer Studios.
Makeup artist Roy Ashton based the makeup for this film on the makeup Jack P. Pierce used in 'The Wolf Man' (1941).
Over five minutes of footage was cut for the UK release due to censorship. Even more scenes were cut for the American release.
The first twenty minutes of the film are accompanied by a narration from Don Alfredo. But since he was not a witness to these events, he could not know what happened.
During the opening credits, the edges of the contact lenses are clearly visible when a close-up shows the werewolf's eyes.
The film is based on the novel "The Parisian Werewolf" by Guy Endore.
Makeup artist Roy Ashton based the makeup for this film on the makeup used by Jack P. Pierce in the film "The Wolf Man" (1941).
