Short description
After 29-year-old Adaline recovers from a nearly lethal accident, she inexplicably stops growing older. As the years stretch on and on, Adaline keeps her secret to herself until she meets a man who changes her life.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Natalie Portman turned down the lead role in this film.
  • Anthony Ingruber landed the role in the film due to his physical resemblance to a young Harrison Ford.
  • In 2010, it was planned that Katherine Heigl would play the lead role in the film, and the role of Fleming would go to Angela Lansbury.
  • When Ellis is on the phone, and Adaline takes his glass of whiskey, the camera pulls back to Ellis after Adaline leaves. At that moment, another glass appears on the table.
  • William's car in the scene at his house is a mid-2000s Grand Cherokee Laredo Jeep. When he argues with Adaline, the car model is visible as older than in previous scenes. However, when Ellis goes after Adaline, the car is the same as the one at William's house. However, as soon as he leaves William’s house, it’s a newer model that looks completely different.
  • To ensure authenticity for scenes set in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, the filmmakers used anamorphic lenses and limited the use of the 'Steadycam' camera stabilization system.
  • The story that San Francisco is built on the remains of ships has historical basis. In the mid-19th century, many people arrived here during the Gold Rush, and the ships they arrived on were simply left to rot in the bay. Some of the abandoned ships were used as warehouses, boarding houses, prisons, and even churches. The city grew, land became scarce, and according to the law, if a ship sank, one could claim a piece of the seabed directly beneath it. Sometime later, the shallow bay with shipwrecks protruding everywhere began to be filled in, removing hills from the continental part of the shore. Today, the business district of the city essentially stands on reclaimed land. Part of the city's subway line, for example, was laid directly through the hull of one of the ships. Approximately 500 shipwrecks have been discovered to date.
