Short description
Giant lava breathing tarantulas – Lavalantulas – erupt out of ancient volcanos in the Santa Monica Mountains, raining death and destruction upon Los Angeles. With the City of Angels on the verge of incineration, only a washed up ‘90s action hero actor stands in the way of this monstrous swarm of bloodthirsty creatures who burn their victims alive.

What's left behind the scenes

  • When the producers told Steve Guttenberg he was allowed to invite colleagues from past projects he had worked on to appear in the film, he immediately invited actors he had worked with in the "Police Academy" franchise (1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1994) – Michael Winslow, Marion Ramsey (1947-2021), and Leslie Easterbrook. For the same reason, Nia Peoples, with whom he starred in "Tower of Terror" (D.J. MacHale, 1997), and Patrick Renna, with whom he co-starred in the 1995 film "The Kickoff" (Holly Goldberg Sloan), also appeared on screen.
  • Steve Guttenberg accepted the offer to participate in this project after turning down the lead role in the science fiction horror film "Sharknado" (Anthony Ferrante, 2013), which gained cult status after its release.
