What's left behind the scenes

After reading the screenplay by Patrick Massett and John Zinman, Paul Haggis expressed a desire to film "Gold," but soon left the project. Haggis showed the script to Michael Mann, who also became interested, but he subsequently left the project to film the dramatic thriller "Blackhat" (2015). Spike Lee became the director for a time, but ultimately the film was directed by Stephen Gaghan.
For filming, Matthew McConaughey shaved his head, gained 20 kilograms, and wore dentures to look as unattractive as possible on camera. He gained weight by going on a diet of cheeseburgers with milkshakes and beer.
