- Johnny Depp agreed to participate in the film without even reading the script. The actor stated that he has long been and remains a devoted fan of J.K. Rowling's works.
- During preparation for the role of Dumbledore, Jude Law had a lengthy meeting with J.K. Rowling, during which she provided him with information about the character that no one else knew. In addition, Law studied the character in the 'Potter' films as performed by Michael Gambon.
- Hogwarts' exterior was filmed at Lacock Abbey, built in 1229. It is located in the ceremonial county of Wiltshire. Hogwarts was also filmed there in the first films of the 'Harry Potter' franchise.
