Short description
In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead - and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

What's left behind the scenes

  • In the scene where Alice, Claire, and Chris fight Wesker, the latter attempts to "eat" Alice using spider-like claws-tentacles from his mouth. This is a reference to the game Resident Evil 5, where African villagers infected with parasites also "emit" parasitic tentacles from their mouths. However, unlike the film, in the games of the series, Wesker was a carrier of the virus, but not a parasite.
  • When Alice fights the guards in the bunker at the beginning of the film while escaping, it is noticeable that she is wearing heeled boots. When she pushes off the shoulder of one of the guards and spins in mid-air, it is visible that she is already wearing different boots, with flat soles. When she kills everyone and is shown from afar, she is wearing heeled boots again.
  • When Alice is in the shower, in a close-up, water is running from the shower. When switching to a distant plan, the sound of water is present, but there is no water, then in a close-up, water is visible again.
  • During filming, Milla Jovovich accidentally "shot" a camera worth $100,000.
  • Filming was scheduled in the pavilions of one of the largest film studios in Toronto, but a fire broke out there the day before filming began.
  • Boris Kodjoe actively trained for six weeks to get in shape and perform his stunts himself. While performing one of the stunts on camera, he suffered a leg injury.
  • Due to filming this movie, Ali Larter missed filming seven episodes of the television series "Heroes" (2006-2010).
  • During filming, the ship used for scenes in Arcadia was filmed docked in Toronto, and the pier was later removed from the shot using digital technology.
  • After seeing James Cameron's 'Avatar' (2009), Paul W.S. Anderson also became keen to film in 3D, after which he and the film crew spent two weeks learning how to properly use 3D equipment.
  • The size and weight of the 3D cameras did not allow for the use of the 'Steadicam' camera stabilization system, and the operators filmed while moving on Segways.
  • When the elevator doors open at the 8-minute mark of the film, the cabin is well lit. When the camera moves inside the elevator, there is no lighting.
  • At the 10-minute mark of the film, Alice sweeps away all the soldiers along with the concrete floor using her superpowers. When she moves a little further, the Umbrella Corporation logo can be seen on the floor, which was not only undamaged but wasn't even covered in dust.
  • At the 11th minute of the film, Alice destroys a security camera with a shot, however, the barrel of her weapon was noticeably aimed to the left of the camera.
  • At the 11th minute of the film, Wesker kills one of his subordinates with a gunshot, and he falls to the floor. In one of the following shots, it can be noticed that the body lying on the floor is in a different location, and the bloodstain has changed its shape.
  • At the 12th minute of the film, Alice's clones kill three soldiers, and their bodies remain lying in front of the rest of the squad. When the clones throw grenades towards the soldiers, the corpses of the killed soldiers are already behind the squad.
  • At the 13th minute of the film, Wesker kills an Alice clone with pistol shots, and she drops her weapon before falling to the floor. When Wesker approaches Alice's body in the next scene, she unexpectedly has two grenades in her hands. It is unclear how Alice could have obtained the grenades, as she had no grenades in her hands or pouches.
  • At the 21st minute of the film, Alice walks between two helicopters surrounded by trees and located close to each other.
  • During filming, Milla Jovovich accidentally "shot" a $100,000 camera.
  • In the scene where Alice, Claire, and Chris fight Wesker, the latter attempts to "consume" Alice using spider-like claw-tentacles from his mouth. This is a reference to the game Resident Evil 5, where African villagers infected with parasites also "emit" parasite tentacles from their mouths. However, unlike the film, in the series' games, Wesker was a carrier of the virus, but not a parasite.
  • When Alice aims with two revolvers at the 25-minute mark of the film, it can be noticed that there are no cartridges in their cylinders.
  • At the 26-minute mark of the film, Alice examines a mechanical beetle, and blood begins to flow from under its leg. After a change of scene, the beetle changes position, and the blood stops flowing.
  • When the group approaches the garage at the 53-minute mark of the film, Chris states that the armored vehicle has 16 wheels. However, at the 59-minute mark, when Bennett, Kim, and Angel enter the garage, it can be seen that the armored vehicle has 8 wheels.
  • At the 59-minute mark of the film, Claire and Luther brace the gates with a car, bumper first. When the zombies break through the gates, the car is already positioned across them.
  • At the 61st minute of the film, Bennett hijacks a plane, the group runs after him and stops at the edge of the roof. When the plane takes off from the building in the next shot, it can be noticed that there is no one on the roof.
  • At the 63rd minute of the film, Chris, Claire, Luther, and Kim survive falling into the water in the elevator cabin. In reality, the impact of the elevator hitting the water would have killed everyone inside, as would a fall onto a solid surface.
  • At the 64th minute of the film, Alice fires 9-10 times from each revolver without reloading, however, their cylinders only hold 6 cartridges each.
  • At the 65th minute of the film, Alice runs to Luther and slides under the roller shutters, which are completely intact. When Alice and Luther are inside behind the closed shutters, the shutters are already riddled with coins after shots from sawn-off shotguns, although Luther lowered them after the shots.
  • At the 66th minute of the film, the executioner lacks a bullet hole in the bag and traces of blood, although Luther previously shot him in the head during the scene at the gates.
  • At the 66th minute of the film, the executioner hits Alice, and she flies into a tiled wall. At the moment of impact, it can be noticed that the wall bends under her weight, as if it were made of plywood.
  • At the 66th minute of the film, the executioner chases Claire and breaks water pipes with an axe, causing water to spray out. The number of intact and broken pipes changes with each cut, and during the overhead shot, it can be seen that chopped pipes are already lying in the executioner's path.
  • At the 67th minute of the film, Claire sees a sawn-off shotgun on the floor, but when she runs towards the executioner, the shotgun is no longer on the floor next to the pipe. Moreover, with changes in camera angle, Claire and the executioner change their positions.
  • At the 68th minute of the film, when the executioner is lying on the floor, a horizontal mark from an axe can be seen on the wall behind Claire's back, even though the executioner has not yet thrown it.
  • When the beheaded executioner falls to the floor at the 68th minute of the film, coins do not spill out of his remains or exploded head, but fall from off-screen from above, as if they were poured out by hand.
  • At the 68th minute of the film, when Claire shoots the executioner with a sawn-off shotgun while sliding on her back, he holds the axe above his head with both hands and prepares to strike. In the next frame, the defeated executioner falls to the floor, but already leaning on the axe handle with his right hand.
  • At the 73rd minute of the film, the control surfaces of the plane that crashed onto the deck move spontaneously.
  • At the 78th minute of the film, Alice notices a blood trail on the floor leading into the next hall. When she enters it, and the camera changes the angle to a front view, the blood trail behind Alice is no longer there.
  • At the 82nd minute of the film, Bennett stands a couple of meters from Alice and has her in his sights. After a scene change, when Alice kicks the gun out of his hand, he ends up almost directly next to her.
  • At the 85th minute of the film, Bennett wants to pick up the sawn-off shotgun from the floor, which is covered with shards of broken glass. When he tries to do so again in the next scene, there are no shards left on the floor.
