What's left behind the scenes
- The microscopic creatures shown in the film, resembling alien life forms, are tardigrades. Due to their tiny size and ability to withstand harsh conditions, they are widespread from the Himalayas to the deep sea. They have been found in hot springs and under ice. When unfavorable conditions arise, tardigrades are able to enter a state of suspended animation for years. Tardigrades are insensitive to negative temperatures, enormous pressure, radiation, and even exposure to open space.
