- During filming, Donnie Yen fainted twice from exhaustion.
- During filming in Foshan, Sammo Hung was hospitalized with a heart attack.
- During the filming of one scene, Sammo Hung was hit in the face by Darren Shahlavi. He insisted on finishing filming before going to the hospital. Filming continued for another 5 hours, and Hung subsequently received stitches.
- In reality, Ip Man did not fight a British boxing champion. In fact, one of his students fought a Russian boxer weighing over 100 kg in Hong Kong and won by knockout.
