What's left behind the scenes

  • The film was shot in the Canadian province of Alberta, specifically on the territory of Dinosaur Provincial Park, where the remains of more than 500 dinosaurs have been found.
  • Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet. However, the Greek language itself arose approximately 3400 years ago, and the alphabet around the 9th-8th centuries BC. The film takes place 20,000 years ago, when the word 'alpha' simply did not exist.
  • The primitive language spoken by the characters was invented specifically for the film.
  • The filmmakers do not state that “no animals were harmed during the making of the film,” due to a scene depicting the killing and skinning of four bison. Nevertheless, the animals were killed humanely by specially trained personnel from Longview Beef Jerky.
