What's left behind the scenes
- This is the very first episode of the legendary Tom and Jerry cartoon series.
- Initially, the cartoon's directors, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, did not name the main characters Tom and Jerry – their original names were Jasper and Jinx. In this particular episode, only the cat’s original name was mentioned; the mouse’s name was never spoken.
- The first episode of the cartoon series is the longest.
- Jasper (future Tom) in this episode appears as a perfectly ordinary cat, without human traits: he moves on all fours, makes normal feline meows, etc. Furthermore, in the first few episodes, he has a slightly atypical appearance, different from the traditional one for the series.
