• Initially, the cartoon's directors, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, did not name the main characters Tom and Jerry – their original names were Jasper and Jinx. In this particular episode, only the cat’s original name was mentioned; the mouse’s name was never spoken.
• The first episode of the cartoon series is the longest.
