• Filming took place primarily on West Dover Road in the town of Pawling, New York, and occasionally in the town of Little Falls, also in New York State.
• Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, who played a married couple on screen, are also married in real life. The film used photographs of their actual children.
• Initially, the script contained only one line of dialogue.
• The device worn by Regan is not a hearing aid, but a cochlear implant. This indicates that she has sensorineural hearing loss, meaning her inner ear is damaged. A cochlear implant converts vibrations in the air into neural impulses that the brain perceives as sounds.
• The appearance of the monsters was finalized only during post-production.
• Initially, the creators did not plan to add subtitles to the film, assuming the audience would understand what was happening anyway. Incidentally, the very first trailer was without subtitles. However, during editing, when the scene where Regan argues with her father about hearing aids came up, it was decided to add subtitles only for that dialogue, but ultimately all dialogues in sign language were subtitled.

However, they don't do this using echolocation, otherwise they could determine a person's location, but as long as that person doesn't make a sound, they can't.
