What's left behind the scenes

  • The script was originally titled "The Wretched," and Chow Yun-Fat, Paz Vega, and Catalina Sandino Moreno were intended to star in the film. However, funding could not be secured, and the project was put on hold.
  • Wesley Snipes contributed $1 million as bail to be released for filming.
  • The film's equestrian stunts were coordinated by stuntman Elbrus Urtaev, originally from Ossetia.
  • The film was completely shot back in 2008, and the sole reason it wasn't released was due to legal issues surrounding the lead actor, Wesley Snipes.
  • Based on this film, Radical Comics published a graphic novel (comic book).
  • On the seventh day of filming, a sandstorm arose in the desert.
  • The final day of filming took place on November 29, 2006.
  • Knowing about the legal problems of the lead actor, Wesley Snipes, the studio's screenwriting department wrote the script in such a way that 75% of the footage was shot without his participation.
  • The entire concept of the character Kansa was drawn based on actor Kevin Howarth, who subsequently played the role.
  • Filming took place in the autumn-winter of 2006 in the desert near the city of Swakopmund, Namibia.
  • The producers of the film, starring Wesley Snipes, hired a team of lawyers whose task was to find legal grounds to postpone the actor's extradition to the United States from Namibia, where filming was taking place.
  • Initially, the script was titled "The Wretched," and Chow Yun-Fat, Paz Vega, and Catalina Sandino Moreno were slated to star in the film. However, funding could not be secured, and the project was put on hold.
