Robert Rodriguez participated in the work on the film as a second director, but concealed his name in the credits.
The name of the new species of cockroach – Judas – is interesting. It is known that Judas betrayed Jesus, just as the cockroaches do in this film.
Filming took place in Los Angeles and in the old subway at the 'Dilancey Street' station in Toronto, which was closed back in 1966.

Stricker's disease, from which the children in this film suffer, is actually "autosomal dominant arthro-ophthalmopathy" – an inflammatory eye disease.
