Short description
Young Pharaoh Ramses XIII clashes with Egypt's clergy over influence on the affairs of the state and its coffers. inexperienced, but quite ambitious pharaoh is putting up a fight against a powerful clan of priests usurping rule over the country.

- The film was shot in Egypt, Uzbekistan (Kyzylkum Desert), and Poland.
- There was never a pharaoh named Ramses XIII. After the death of Ramses XI (XII), Herihor became the new pharaoh.
- In the scenes of the pharaoh's troops' military maneuvers, Soviet soldiers served as extras.
- In the film scene depicting a solar eclipse, it is shown that the pharaoh and priests of Ancient Egypt knew about the spherical shape of the Earth and the physical nature of eclipses.
- Two scenes were cut by censorship in the Soviet distribution: the ritual killing of an Assyrian warhorse by the Egyptians and the procession of Egyptian warriors carrying severed hands of Libyan rebels in baskets.
