What's left behind the scenes
- Dev Patel wrote the screenplay for approximately eight years. He drew inspiration from Korean revenge thrillers and action films, such as the John Wick franchise.
- Principal photography took place in Batam, Indonesia.
- During filming, Dev Patel sustained several injuries, including a broken arm and two broken toes, a shoulder injury, and an eye infection.
- Due to budget constraints, many scenes were filmed using action cameras and smartphones.
- The episode of the village burning was filmed on location – a fire was lit at the location at night, and they made sure the thatched roofs of the houses didn't burn prematurely. Around 120 extras, including children, were involved in the scene.
