- Clint Eastwood's punctuality and organizational skills as a director allowed filming to be completed three weeks ahead of schedule, saving between two and four million dollars.
- The director's daughters, Kimber Eastwood (née Kimber Tunis) and Alison Eastwood, appeared in cameo roles. Kimber's appearance in the cast was met with surprise, as Eastwood had never spoken about her to outsiders or acknowledged her existence. One way or another, Eastwood still avoids talking about her publicly, but her appearance in the film under her father's surname signifies, if only indirectly, a recognition.
- The castle building shown at the beginning of the film is located in Baltimore County, Maryland, USA. It houses a private middle school. The paintings on the walls and carpets that the viewer sees were brought in by the film crew. They were left to the school after filming was completed.
