Short description
A man gets out of prison after 15 years for stabbing his wife to death, and his social worker becomes convinced he was innocent. As she researches his case, and interviews other people who were involved, she begins to fall in love with him, as her friends warn her that he's dangerous.
What's left behind the scenes
- The original script by Frank Norwood was not to the liking of the film's producers, and they brought in a then virtually unknown Quentin Tarantino to make significant changes to it. Rutger Hauer had no objection to the original script, he disliked the revisions made by Tarantino, and he insisted on filming according to Norwood's script. Eventually, a compromise was reached – Norwood's script was followed when it came to Hauer's lines, while Tarantino's script was used for everything else, including the lines of the character played by Natasha Richardson. Norwood insisted that he be credited as the sole author of the script, so Tarantino was listed in the credits as an associate producer.
