By ‘Central Station’ in Brazil, people usually mean the main railway station in Rio de Janeiro, which connects this metropolis with other major cities in the country. Its full name is Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil.
All scenes of the film were shot in chronological order.
When actress Fernanda Montenegro set up her table at the station, strangers began approaching her with requests to write letters for them, just as it happens in the film itself. Some of the footage shot during these moments was included in the film.
