What's left behind the scenes

The film was originally titled The Bop Decameron before being changed to Nero Fiddle. Woody Allen changed it when he realized few people would recognize the connection to the collection of novellas called 'The Decameron'.
Noomi Rapace was considered for the role that Penelope Cruz ultimately received.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Robert Pattinson auditioned for a role in the film.
Woody Allen's first anthology film since 'New York Stories' (1989), for which he contributed the segment 'Oedipus Wrecks'. It is also the first anthology in forty years directed solely by Allen from start to finish (since 'Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid to Ask', 1972).

At the beginning of the film, Roberto Benigni is portrayed as a typical middle-class Roman, but throughout the film he speaks with a Florentine accent, which is markedly different from the Roman one.
