Although the script called for filming to take place in educational institutions in Ithaca, Boston, and Austin, almost all of the school scenes were filmed at the University of Georgia.
Initially, during the scene where the hapless travelers attempt to jump a car over a bridge, a famous composition from the Bond series in a remix by Moby was supposed to play. However, it was later replaced with a simpler song, as using such a hit in the film would have required a further increase in the budget.
Filming took place from October 16 to December 27, 1999.
