• The film is based on the 1963 science fiction comedy of the same name, whose director, Jerry Lewis, serves as an executive producer here.
• In one episode, Professor Klump opens his desk after class and secretly, with a feeling of deep longing, takes out a Snickers chocolate bar. However, when the film was released in the United Kingdom, the chocolate was digitally altered to the Chocky brand.
• Dean Dean Richmond was named after Bill Richmond – a co-writer of the original 1963 film. And the offensive comic from the bar, Reggie Warrington, was named after Reginald and Warrington Hudlin, who worked with Eddie Murphy on the film 'Boomerang' (1992).
