Short description
Cocky researcher Sebastian Caine is working on a project to make living creatures invisible. Determined to achieve the ultimate breakthrough, Caine pushes his team to move to the next phase — using himself as the subject. The test is a success, but when the process can't be reversed and Caine seems doomed to future without flesh, he starts to turn increasingly dangerous.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The gorilla Isabelle was played by special effects artist Tom Woodruff Jr., who also portrayed the Alien in three films.
  • Several excessively violent scenes, including a rape scene, were removed from the film during final editing.
  • A detailed computer-generated three-dimensional model of Kevin Bacon's body was created for the film, down to the last capillary, and after filming, this program was donated to scientists for research.
  • The film was shot in Los Angeles, as well as in Washington, D.C.
  • Filming took place over two months – from April 26 to June 25, 1999. However, some episodes were reshot in August.
  • The role of Linda McKay was offered to Jennifer Lopez.
  • Robert Downey Jr. was considered for the role of Matthew Kensington.
  • Guy Pearce and Edward Norton were considered for the role of Sebastian. Kevin Bacon was chosen for his 'ability to be both charming and terrifying'.
  • According to anatomy and physiology, when a drug restoring vision is injected into a vein, blood from the heart should first reach the lungs, and only then to other organs.
