- Initially, Brian De Palma offered the role of Claire to Juliette Binoche.
- This was the first film shown in over 3,000 theaters in the United States.
- The role originally written for Vanessa Redgrave was intended for a man.
- The film is based on a television series by Bruce Geller.
- In the Channel Tunnel, trains traveling in opposite directions run on separate tunnels: the hero on the roof of the train could not have seen the oncoming train.
- The TGV train is an electric train, therefore it should have a pantograph (or current collector), and the railway should have an overhead catenary system. Neither of these are present in the film.
- Filming took place from March 13 to August 8, 1995.
