Dax Shepard was asked to become blond for the duration of filming due to concerns that viewers would confuse him with Dane Cook.
In an alternative plotline that was not released, Eva Longoria played one of the supermarket employees. Scenes with her can be seen in one of the menu sections on the DVD release.
