Short description
A beautiful felon, sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a policeman, is given a second chance – as a secret political assassin controlled by the government.

What's left behind the scenes

  • At the insistence of Luc Besson, the lead actress, Anne Parillaud, spent a lot of time handling weapons to get used to them. She constantly loaded and unloaded a mock pistol even while in her car. Once, police noticed this, assumed the weapon was real, and forced the actress to stop and exit the car with her hands raised.
  • Victor arrives at the embassy in a Mercedes with diplomatic license plates indicating the car belongs to the Australian embassy.
  • In the restaurant scene, Nikita fires a Desert Eagle Mark VII pistol chambered in .357 Magnum, manufactured by the Israeli military state corporation Israel Military Industries.
  • Filming took place from February 13 to July 10, 1989.
